So I hear that Bob Burg Auto on Monitor St. has been sold to the Morries Auto Group, who will continue to sell Volkswagons and Audis there. It got me thinking back to a car I bough there years ago (We’re talking around 1981!) It was a 1975 Mercury Grand Marquis Brougham. Quite the name, huh? This sucker was huge! It was just a two-door, but the doors were, like 6 feet long. And the hood looked as big as a football field from the river’s seat. And it had a huge engine. I think it was a 454 or something like that. You were going 70 mph down Highway 16 before you knew it, because it was so smooth. They don’t make cars like that anymore, of course. We’re all into crossover SUV’s that get 28 mpg instead of monster “ghetto cruisers” that get the same mileage as a semi truck! I do remember that car fondness though. Do you have an old car you still wish you had?
