A wedding ring is emerging from the ashes of a burned California home amid massive fires around the state. A couple returned to their home in Goleta after the Holiday Fire burned much of their belongings to ashes, but one thing remained intact, a wedding ring. Upon finding the ring, 48-year-old Dr. Ishu Rao dropped to one-knee and put the ring on his wife, 39-year-old Laura Jensen Rao’s finger. The couple has been married for about eight months. They only had minutes to get out of their home safely with their two children, three dogs and a cat when the fire struck.
