Who We Are: Coulee Partners for Sustainability (CPS) is a non-profit organization that formed in 2007 with the purpose to create an environmental awareness in the Coulee Region through a variety of educational events. CPS’s main goals include educating people of all ages about personal responsibility and sustainability, inspiring people to take an active role in environmental issues and uniting the community by organizing educational events in La Crosse. CPS’s aim is to involve people of all ages to share and spread the knowledge of environmental issues and discuss the possible ways in which we can better our society and make our community more sustainable. (For more information on CPS, go to www.cpslax.org.)
“Celebrating Partners” and “Platinum Sponsor”: The La Crosse Area Family YMCA and the La Crosse Public Library are “Celebrating Partners” for the Earth Fair. These partnerships are forged with the common goal of promoting and celebrating community sustainability through events such as the annual Earth Fair. They share knowledge, build consensus, educate, donate time and provide leadership. Celebrating partners can obtain greater resources and spread awareness to more audiences by working together on projects. We are also pleased to have La Crosse City Parks, Recreation & Forestry as a Platinum Sponsor, providing Myrick Park and shelters for the Earth Fair and promoting the event through their newsletter.
Earth Fair: For the past eight years, CPS has put on an annual Earth Fair. Past attendance has been between 1,000 and 2,500-- primarily families with young to adolescent children – this is an indication of the popularity of the Earth Fair in which there are many activities and demonstrations held for young and old alike.
Recycling Fair & Spring Cleaning: Also during the Earth Fair a “Recycling Fair” will be held at Emerson Elementary school with electronic waste and confidential documents collected.
The Earth Fair is free and open to the public. The event is 100% supported by the generous contributions from area businesses and organizations through grants, sponsorships, and nominal fees from event (non-sponsor) vendors.
