The man who built Fox News into a ratings juggernaut is dead. The wife of Roger Ailes said the former chief of the cable news outlet died this morning at the age of 77. Elizabeth Ailes said — quote — “Roger was a loving husband to me, to his son Zachary, and a loyal friend to many. He was also a patriot, profoundly grateful to live in a country that gave him so much opportunity to work hard, to rise — and to give back.” Ailes was founder and longtime chairman and CEO of Fox News and the Fox Television Stations Group. He resigned under pressure last year after a number of women who worked at Fox accused him of sexually harassing them. Ailes served as a media consultant for Republican presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush. He also served as an adviser to President Trump’s campaign last year.
