This morning at 5:50 AM, officers from the Campbell Police Department and the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 2400 Lakeshore Drive in the Town of Campbell for a welfare check. Upon arrival, the officers made entry and found two people in an upstairs bedroom deceased. The cause of death appeared to be from gunshot wounds.
A weapon was recovered at the scene and appears to be the weapon used in the shooting. Based on evidence at the scene and information obtained from family members, this case is being classified as a murder-suicide.
There was no forced entry to the residence and no evidence of foul play.
The scene was processed for evidence and several notifications to family members were made. The bodies were turned over to the La Crosse County Medical Examiner’s Office who will conduct a post-mortem examination.
There is no danger to the community.
The identities of the deceased are being withheld until the conclusion of the post-mortem examination by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
