Eagles' Greatest Hits Becomes The Best-Selling Album Of All-Time

Let’s admit it: we all owned a copy of this album at one time, right? The Eagles Greatest Hits was released in 1976 and was one of the first albums I ever owned. And now, The Eagles’ greatest hits album has moonwalked past Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” to become history’s best-selling album of all-time, with sales and streams of the album having reached 38 million copies! And here’s the interesting thing: The Eagles’ “Hotel California,” released in 1977, is now 26x platinum which makes it the third best-selling album of all-time, giving Don Henley, Glen Frey and company the Number 1 and 3 albums. Not bad for the band from California! What’s interesting is that though not considered country at the time, the Eagles sound has had a profound impact on so many country artists. Heck, when I first taught myself to play guitar, I learned to play every song on that album! I can still picture Glen Frey “Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona.”

Here’s a video I found on Youtube of the band doing “Take It Easy” live in 1977:
